Hyundai Motor India Ltd, the country’s second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter recorded a 12.8pc jump in domestic sales in December 2011. Cumulative sales for the month were up by 3.6pc. Domestic sales in December were 29,516 units against 26,168 units in the corresponding month last year. Aggregate sales were 48,949 units against 47,228 units last year. Exports were 19,433 units in the month against 21,060. Commenting on the year-end sales Mr.Arvind Saxena, Director Marketing and Sales, HMIL said, “An increase of 12.8% in sales in December gives us cause for some cheer in a year that has been below expectations. We don’t expect an upturn in the market in the near future.” For the full calendar year 2010 HMIL recorded domestic sales of 373,709 units, an increase of 4.8pc over 356,717 units last year. Cumulative sales for the year were at 616,039 units against 603,819 units, an increase of 2pc. Exports for the year were at 242,330 units against 247,102 units last year. The segment-wise cumulative sales for December 2011 are: A2 segment 42,624units (Eon, Santro, i10, i20); A3 Segment 6,247 units (Accent and Verna); A5 segment 11 units (Sonata Transform); Santa Fe (SUV) 67 units.
